Getting there
The City of San Francisco earned $38.4 million in revenue from parking tickets last year, so unless you want to help fund the grand old dame, we recommend public transportation to NeXTWORLD Expo. It's $.85 to catch any city bus (called the MUNI), and a free transfer is good for a few hours. And if you get lost, try MUNI information at 671-6864.
A few blocks from Expo is Powell & Market streets, the city's hub of tourist and shopping activity. You'll find the Visitors Information Bureau (Mon. - Fri., 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., 391-2000), where you can pick up city guides, maps, and discount MUNI passes. For tenderfoots, consider Veterans Cab (552-1300).
